Principality Director appointed chair for Institute of Consulting in Wales

26th October 2011

Principality Consulting Director, Karen Dancey took over the role of Wales Chair for the Institute of Consulting (IC) this month and has been ratified by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) Board for a position on the national IC Council.

Karen says, “My first task is to extend my thanks to Martin Seymour who, as immediate past chair, has steered us through an extremely difficult few years of Welsh Government shake-up of business support and delivery. This environment has a direct impact on our membership – many of whom were engaged in delivering government-funded advice and consultancy.”

Successes during Martin’s tenure included the creation of the free, easy-to-search online directory of qualified practitioners in Wales that helps consultancy purchasers to source the very best qualified consultancy and advisory services. He will continue his support of Welsh Institute of Consulting members by playing an active role in the new committee.

Our voluntary committee comprises Jeni Winstanley in North Wales; Peter Brooks, Treasurer and Data Manager and Martin Seymour, Secretary.

Looking to the future, Karen plans to bring her breadth of experience to the Chair’s role, “I am excited by the prospect of moving the Institute forward to meet the needs of members and the business community at a time of challenge and opportunity for the Welsh economy.”

Work is already underway to forge further collaboration with CMI Cymru and other professional bodies. Initiatives include a programme of events; knowledge exchange, and valuable networking opportunities. Click this link for details of events near you.

“I believe the Institute of Consulting is a valuable resource for Wales businesses, providing reassurance in the largely-unregulated business advice sector. When a client engages an Institute member or practice they are guaranteed a consultant committed to maintaining professional standards of business delivery and recognised for their experience, competence and professionalism.”
