Sci-MX Nutrition Limited, based at Gloucester Business Park, had selected SAP Business One to replace their Sage Line 50 and SNAPfulfil system. However, they were having problems implementing the new system. Principality Consulting Limited was engaged to review progress and manage the implementation.
The headquarter operation includes the management team, marketing, sales administration, telesales and warehousing. Customer order profile covers the range – from full pallets ordered through Electronic Data Interchange; through to individual items ordered through the web site.
Manufacturing is sub-contracted to a European supplier delivered into the headquarters and other satellite warehouses for order assembly, packaging and distribution.
Added complexity includes the demand profile, range of products and the need for managed batches, sell by dates and full traceability.
An initial review confirmed where the business was in the implementation process.
A project was then scoped to enable solution suppliers to configure the system, provide the user training and prepare the data to set up the new system.
PCL defined a programme of work that provided:
The in-house team were organised into a steering and project team, with defined roles responsibilities and milestone targeted for their assigned activities. Weekly meetings reviewed progress and made corrective action plans for issues and activities that were behind target.
Over a weekend of the 16th week the old system was shut down, the data transferred and the new system “went live” to start shipping orders on the following Monday afternoon.
Overall this implementation was a very successful programme of change that could not have been achieved without the commitment and dedication of the in-house team and the specialist support provided by Principality.
